A FOIA a day helps the government obey
I always start those 365 photo projects and fail before the first month is over. It’s not because I don’t like to shoot photos, it’s just that I run out of interesting things to shoot.
So I figured I’d make up a challenge where it would be near impossible for me to run out of ideas. Seeing as the IRE conference is coming up, I found the perfect idea:
Starting on the first day of the 2012 IRE conference (June 14) and running until the first day of the 2013 IRE conference (June 20), I will file at least one FOIA a day to various local, state and national agencies to see what I can get.
The tracker will unveil on June 14 and will coincide with the 1.0 launch of my new website, found at http://stevenri.ch.
I will be taking requests throughout the process, so if there is any data or documents you’d like to see, let me know and I’ll put them on my docket.
I’m calling this the FOIaDAY project and I think I should go a lot better than my previous attempts at taking a photo a day for a year.
This weekend, I will be diving into my first attempts at creating a Django based application. I’ll post a blog on it, but any well-wishes are greatly appreciated.
